Oore CI
Ship an iOS app

Build your first iOS app

Create an iOS pipeline and run an unsigned release build to prove that Xcode can build your app.

On this page you build your app for iOS without signing it. The result is not installable, but it proves that Oore, Flutter, and Xcode can build the app on this Mac before you add Apple credentials on the next page.

What you need

First, check the Xcode toolchain the runner will use:

oore doctor --platform ios

The command ends with All selected required checks passed. It checks the signing tools, not your certificates. Oore checks signing credentials in each build.

1. Create the project

If you already created a project for this app in the Android path, open it and go to the next step.

  1. In the Oore web UI, open Projects and select New project.
  2. Enter a Name.
  3. In Path, enter the absolute path to the app’s Git repository.
  4. Select Create project.

Creating a project trusts that repository’s code to run with your macOS account’s permissions. Use a repository you would run on this Mac yourself.

2. Create an iOS pipeline

  1. On the project’s Pipelines tab, select Set up a build, or Add pipeline if the project already has one.

  2. Under Start from, select Custom.

  3. Under Basics, enter iOS as the Pipeline name. Under Platforms, clear Android and select iOS.

  4. Under Build > Artifacts, replace the pattern with:

    build/ios/iphoneos/*.app
  5. Select Create pipeline.

Without signing, Oore runs flutter build ios --release --no-codesign. That command produces Runner.app instead of an .ipa, so the pattern above collects the app bundle. Oore zips it as Runner.app.zip.

3. Run the build

In Run build, check the Branch, then select Run build. Oore opens the build page.

Check the result

The build ends as Succeeded, and Artifacts lists Runner.app.zip. Your app compiles for iOS on this Mac.

Troubleshooting

The build fails because CocoaPods is missing

Apps with plugins need CocoaPods. Install it with sudo gem install cocoapods, or brew install cocoapods if you use Homebrew. Then run the build again.

The build fails with “artifact patterns matched no files”

The pattern does not match the build output. Check that the pattern is exactly build/ios/iphoneos/*.app.

Xcode reports that a license or first launch is not complete

Open Xcode once, accept the license, and let it install its components. Then run sudo xcodebuild -license accept and build again.

Next step

Sign the iOS build for TestFlight.
